Little Owen had a fun Birthday party. He looked super cute in the crown I made him. (I used this tutorial from Juicy Bits to make it and just rounded the pointy edges.) It was a little big, but he'll grow into it.
I made him this simple personalized banner. I used a coffee bag for the material a la maya*made style. I stenciled the letters and even used parts of letters to stencil the toadstools to create a cohesive style. Then I strung it together with embroidery thread. I made one for Michael too. I figure they'll be adorable over their beds someday. (When they're out of our bed that is!)
I made an orange chocolate zucchini cake with toadstool cupcakes on top. The icing is made with chocolate chips and heavy cream. I meant it to be a smooth icing but in a happy accident messed up the recipe and made this lovely fudge dirt beneath the toadstools. It was tasty!
The cupcakes were Michae's favorite!
And Owen loved them too. We had the best time watching him make a mess!
As I wrote for my "this moment" Michael made Owen a gift. He could hardly wait to give it to him!
And this is what he made Owen. A cute little felt caterpillar. He LOVES sewing these. We have a small collection of them now. He's so impressed that he can make it all by himself.
I still can't believe Owen is one! Happy Birthday my boy!

Oh what delightful pictures, just lovely, cheers Marie
