Christmas Morn

On Christmas morning Owen woke Michael and I up at 5:30am, ugh! It's a time of morning Owen seems to love. (I hope he grows out of that.) Michael went running for the plate of cookies and milk we left for Santa on the fireplace. You can see the amazement in his eyes! Too adorable!

I couldn't stop him from grabbing the little stuffed animals that were visible in the stockings. For awhile he just sat around playing with his animals and then out of no where, as if he just remembered, he started running around yelling "we need to wake Daddy up!"

I love this picture of Michael waking up Papa. Doesn't Papa look thrilled!

So, before we could do stockings Mommy & Daddy had to get the coffee. I remember having to wait for my parents and feeling like I would jump out of my skin in excitement. Michael came running to me in the kitchen and said "Mommy, I love getting presents! It's so compelling!" Isn't that just the perfect word? Compelling, I don't know where he came up with it. I'd never heard him use the word before but he described the moment perfectly.

Michael took the time to "read" Owen the storybook in his stocking.

This year I was amazed at how fast the packages were ripped open. I have to find a way to slow him down next year. Maybe make everyone take turns. He scarcely saw what he had before he was tearing into the next. He loved the gnomes I made him. (I'll blog about them later.)

And the big gift from Santa was a set of Lincoln logs. The gnomes were playing inside.

Owen loved the squirrel because of how it felt on his cheeks. But of course he scarcely noticed it all. He's more interested in our silly faces and interaction then any toys.

We had a great day. I highly recommend cooking the day before and having left overs on Christmas. All day long we just played, watched old time Christmas movies and ate Christmas cookies & birthday cake. A lovely, fun and relaxing Christmas.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas as well!

  1. Sam and Owen have the same pajamas. I'm sure they are close to the same size...the little chunky! LOL. I was going to see if you wanted to go for a walk but seeing how we are inundated with snow, it maybe have to wait.
