Not really knowing where we were going, we walked and went under and over barbed wired fence. Then, we took a detour through some briars. I was leading until I heard a large animal run away just feet in front of me. Mom asked what it sounded like. And I being the exaggerator that I am said, "like galloping!"
Later, under the "laughing tree" we joked around about what the animal could have been. I was telling them that in the southwest when I hear scurrring in the bushes it always sound like it should be a much larger animal then the tiny lizard that runs out. Which gave rise to all sorts of uncontrollable laughter about galloping lizards. Mom and I have always had this thing about laughing, sometimes when we start we can't stop, even if there's really nothing to laugh about. Such was the case here and it seemed to spread, we had the kids laughing too. Even, Michael said "That's silly! A galloping lizard!?!" We like to think the faeries put a laughter spell over the tree. Though I'm not sure Mom and I need a spell to laugh.
Finally we found, what we now call, Faerie Lane and the woods we were looking for as well. Emily and I found a tree with a kind of door in the front, we thought it'd be the kind of place to find some faeries. So we left the invites there.
What a fun adventure!
