Working on her "Second Pancake", Monica's Shower

I hosted a shower yesterday for my good friend, Monica, who is having her second baby at the end of the summer. We painted onesies and the children painted wooden butterflies, dragonflies & bumble bees. The onesie idea was gleaned from an obsession of Monica, Mara & I, the show, "Gilmore Girls". Lorelei is right, everything looks cute on a onesie. Monica & Luke were completely surprised by the theme, as I kept it all a secret, no easy feat.

The food was great, can't take credit for that, it was a potluck. Mara made spinach-feta cheese & green chille quiches. Monica brought yummy cantaloupe, pineapple fruit salad. I made blueberry, lemon poppy seed, orange blackberry jelly muffins and chocolate zucchini cake. Isadora brought her infamous bean dip. The list goes on and on. It was all delicious. Monica's family came from out of town and a fun time was had by one and all.
Our blue and brown theme, set off by beautiful flowers. Frosted lemon poppy muffins in the foreground.

Morgan's going to be a good big brother, he was dying to hold the baby.

Sick of painting bugs and paper, they began painting themselves.
Mara decides it's time to shut them down.

Thank you to my Mom, who bought much of the plates, napkins & table cloth and the adorable "supermom" cake topper. Thanks also to everyone who brought food, gifts and conversation. We enjoyed you all.

Good luck, Monica & Luke, on your "second pancake"!
