a little visit...

We've been busy, busy, packing up and moving.  At the moment we are living amongst boxes.  This move has truly been a blessing from start to nearly finished.  Some of you may remember my posts about our small space.  I so treasured our little house,  I'm going to really miss it in many respects.  However, we were beginning to feel on top of one another and were grumpy about it!.  Therefore, when our landlady called to say she had a bigger place open up and would we want it, we jumped!  Here are a few glimpses of our new space.

The kitchen started out as my least favorite room.

Even though I had nil desire to paint, I wanted a brighter space.  So we sprung for a few cans of paint.  The colors had the effect of liquid light!  I'm amazed at how it brightened the space. The tiles which before seemed very dingy, now look bright and cheerful. It's my most favorite room!  I also love that it's separate from the rest of the house.  A little bit of peace and quiet for this Mama.

The two walls around the eating area are orange, a sort of a cream-sickle color. Don't ask me what our fascination is with orange.  It began with my husband's orange paintings and now it knows no bounds.

Also, we'll now have two tables.  So we can eat breakfast in the kitchen, home school in the kitchen and leave the mess if we're still working after lunch.  I've mentioned many times here on the blog how challenging it was to have to clear our lone table for home school, meals and my doll making. This will help so much!  I've also always longed for a formal dining space.  I just posted about that here.  It's funny how things work out.

I'm feeling truly blessed & so grateful right now.  Spiritually, I've learned so much through this move.  I'm learning to trust the Divine plan for our family, more than my own.  I never would have dared to imagine this space for us. Thank you for coming for a visit today!

Until next time...

  1. I've been waiting for house photos!! I love your kitchen and how clean and fresh it looks. Nothing shouts out at you (like bright gaudy tile or something you can't change) so it's such a peaceful space.
    I'm so happy for you!
I hope we have a move in our future this year as well, hopeful in the Autumn!

  2. I cannot believe what a difference painting your kitchen made! It looked like a military kitchen at first, not ugly, just functional. Now it looks so cheery and kind of cottagey (I guess I made that word up)!

  4. Your kitchen looks so much better after you painted it! I'm always amazed at the difference a couple of coats of paint can make. We painted our bedroom a similar peach recently, and I am so in love with the color right now.

Also, I couldn't agree more about having a separate kitchen. I love that ours is separate from the rest of our house too. It's also nice, because I'm a messy cook, and with a separate kitchen, I can avoid staring at my cooking mess while we eat! :)

Good luck with everything. I don't enjoy moving, but I do love setting up a new space!
