It has been so hot here! In the hundreds! I think I've mentioned before Summer here in the Southwest is a little like winter in the NE in that everyone hibernates inside. It's just not comfortable in the least to be out.
But the sunflowers are up! It's a little funny, they're turned towards the wall because the morning light comes from that direction. Oh well, that doesn't stop the boys from enjoying them.
I love this picture because of the look of absolute adoration on Owen's face. (By the way, the black around his eye is actually a semi-washed off pirate patch. We love Lyra Face painting pencils here.)
Owen said he was dancing with the sunflower. He took hold of the leaves very gently and danced with her.
This week Michael has been going to Vacation Bible Camp. So the mornings have been just me & Owen. It's been a nice change from our usual routine. Yesterday Owen and I went to the garden store together & we brought home some ladybugs.
1500 ladybugs! We waiting for evening, watered and then let them loose in the garden & on the Oleanders.
With our dry heat & tiny yard, it's a bit like taking ten dollars and throwing it to the wind. They of course didn't all stay in our yard. But we did notice many in the garden & on the Oleanders this morning. I'm happy to have given our neighborhood a little dose of the good bugs. Plus, the boys excitement about it all was priceless.
My mantra right now is "embrace the heat"! It's the only way to survive and find the awareness inside to not be totally cranky! Not that I don't have my moments! These sunflowers are helping my disposition. How can you not be happy in the presence of a sunflower? It's such an expression of pure joy! Like a message from the divine to just smile & radiate goodness.
Is it hot where you live? How are you surviving the summer heat? Until next time...

Oh my! we do live on opposite ends of the earth don't we?! Our temps have been in the mid 50's up to a high of 64 by next week! (I had to convert and it sounds a lot colder in F than C!) I prefer somewhere in between our temps, I don't tolerate heat very well either!
ReplyDeleteLadybugs and sunflowers always make me smile! :o)
