Our little Owen is just growing and growing and it's so fun seeing his personality shine free and independent. He is his own little being. Lately all he wants to wear on his feet are these boots! These used to be Michael's and it's so fun seeing Owen love them just as much as Michael did.
And he loves this sweat shirt and will not give it up even though it's quite small on him now.
Cute things he's been saying...
- "I'll be back in three buckets" (he means seconds). One day Michael was upset because Papa was taking Owen out & he needed to stay home so we could do our school work. Owen whispered in Michael's ear, "Don't worry, we'll be back in 3 buckets!" He made Michael laugh. This has become "a thing" between brothers and so they both say it now.
- One morning he woke up saying "sawberries, sawberries..." over and over. "Can I eat sawberries?!" I asked him if he had been dreaming about strawberries and he said yes. A couple of days later I brought some home and he ate them with a look of pure excitement and ecstasy on his face! I wish I had gotten a picture!
- This morning he asked if we could make "chocolate bounies" (brownies) or have "sawberries". I said we can't have brownies for breakfast and I don't have any strawberries. He asked "How about some butter?" (peanut butter).
- He asks me for "apples with a cut on it", meaning apples that are cut up.
- One day we had to be somewhere and so rushing the boys I said, " Eat your breakfast!" In the next breath, like a distracted Mama & making my list of things to take I said out loud,"diapers!" Owen said, "Diapers! I can't eat diapers?!" My little two year old cracked his first joke!

Oh how I do love Toddlerese, and how I miss it when they speak it no more.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 1/2 year old calls strawberries "Fawbebbies", and her navel is her "bel-bel", and she doesn't watch a movie, but a "moody".
It all passes so quickly...!
Aw, so cute! I'm so with you it passes way too quickly!
DeleteWhat a sweet lad - love his sayings! I try to write down the ones that my boy says - recently when I asked him to do something he would say 'yes your majesty', lol. I have no idea where he got that idea from!
ReplyDeleteRightly so, you are Queen of your castle! lol, love it!
DeleteOwen's diaper-joke really got me laughing! And oh, I love remembering the funny things my Little Mr used to say. The word "feridgera-ta-der" (refrigerator) is still in use around our house, as is the word "ba-lella" (umbrella.) And I still remember someone asking him how old he was and his response... "I'm FWEEEEE!" And how sometimes we would "go for a wok to collect some woks," and perhaps see a "fwog" along the way.
ReplyDeleteNow with the current toddler-in-residence we're starting to collect some more good ones. Current favorite word is "bee-boo" (i.e. belly button) though the toddler-in-residence is still a bit unclear on the concept. Today he poked me on the knee and gleefully announced, "Bee-boooo!"
thanks for the fun post!

So, so funny! I love the words you still use. We have a few too that were left over from our eldest. I can't seem to remember to say yogurt instead of "mogurt" which is what Michael used to say. So now, Owen is learning the word "mogurt"! He'll be in a highschool lunch line saying, "can I have the mogurt please?". lol!
Deleteits lovely to record the funny things they say and then look back on them. how sweet x
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so beautiful! Your little guy sounds absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI have lists of the cute things my littles have said over the years as it was before blogging days. My favourite was when my MIL claimed that he had a spot of impetigo on his face.(but it wasn't) One day he was looking very sad so I asked him what's wrong...."I've got a potato on my face mama." was his reply! So cute!
