Sunday Gnome Pancakes

Author: Christina G. Rossetti - 1830-1894)

Mix a pancake,
Stir a pancake,
Pop it in the pan;
Fry the pancake;
Toss the pancake,
Catch it if you can.

If you're a messy pancake maker like me you always find a few crispy drips in the pan as you flip.

Michael always calls them his gnome pancakes and fetches a special gnome or two for breakfast.

Mmm, mmm, good!  Here's our favorite recipe for a few gnome pancakes plus some.

Pancakes

Whisk 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 T sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 -1 tsp cinnamon

Whisk in another bowl
1 1/2 cups milk (we love them thin so add 1/2 cup more for thinner pancakes)
3 T unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix wet ingredients with dry and crisp in a hot griddle.

Real maple syrup is a must!  Although Mrs. Butterworth has been known to make a few visits to our house.  She complains a lot about that naughty ketchup bottle who stands beside her in the fridge.  The kids find her hilarious!

Until next time...
