Owen is 21 months old

It's been a long time since I recorded some of my Owen's little quirks and new found abilities.  He's growing so big, so fast! And I know from what I recorded of Michael at this age it passes so quickly from memory.  I so often write about Michael, with our homeschooling.  But lately, not as much about Owen. So here goes!

Owen is now 21 months old just 3 short months until 2! Yikes! He's talking up a storm. A favorite word right now is "yucky". And he crinkles his little nose up when he says it.  He's starting to have more food preferences.  He loves to sing.  In fact, when I sing the boys to circle time in the morning Owen is the first to show up and sit right down across from me.  He puts his hands in his lap and looks at me expectantly.  He loves to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Alley-Oop" and "Old McDonald".  Michael says he sings these songs "wrong" since all of the words aren't fully enunciated.  Though we can clearly hear the tune and pick out words as well.  His "Twinkle, Twinkle" sounds like "Winkle, winkle, it'll sar".

He gives us the funniest most grown-up looks.  I think he must study our expressions because I see Michael and his Daddy in those looks and mannerisms.  He nods his head often and turns his head to the side knowingly like in the above picture.  As if he's deep in conversation with you and he understands where you're coming from, if that makes any sense.

He loves to bake with me and is very determined.  He wants to help and will not be thwarted or distracted.  Even when his wooden spatula has become weapon-like!

He adores big brother. He looks at him so lovingly or just randomly falls in his arms for a big bear hug.  We always say "Lo-oo-v-ve", in these moments in a melodic, loving tone.  And Owen repeats "Yub".  And he gives us a "chocolate eyes" look of pure, adoration.  The kind of look where the eyes just say it all.

Oh, but he shrieks when brother tries to direct his play or take a toy away. Ahh, the shrieking drives Mommy to distraction, to "crazy town", at times!

However, mostly he is a happy, smiley boy.  He loves to break into giggles with Daddy and Michael.

He can also be pensive and quiet too.  I caught him taking in the beauty of this moment. The majesty of these mountains was not lost on him.  Like most toddlers he would be happy living outside on a permanent camp out! He loves getting dirty and muddy and loves "tubby time" (bath time) too.

He's so much fun. He's a loving, little ball of energy, sometimes exhausting, & always interesting!

Until next time...
