While in NY I came up with quite a few projects to fill my time. I've started learning how to needle felt and knit & felt.
I made this little play-scape for the kids with some scraps I had. The little cave I had left over from a knitted/ felting project. I needle felted it to a re purposed & felted sweater, the river is made from a cashmere re purposed sweater. Then I had to needle felt a couple of little gnomes to live there. The gnomes are only about an inch and a quarter tall. So, very small. Michael loves to play with it and was so excited to see it come together.

hey, that looks like something a kid would get a real kick out of playing with. well done!
ReplyDeleteI've been daydreaming about creating a little playscape for my kiddos. Did you teach yourself to needle felt or is there a great book or online tutorial out there somewhere?? What a beautiful creation!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ce, I saw a little demo on my Earthschool curriculum. Then I just bought a small needle felting set and started experimenting. I'm still learning myself.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a big gnome fan, but yours are the cutest I've ever seen - they really have character. Wish I'd had the circle of inspiration and support you-all have, all these ideas for creative play - all these other mothers who put their children first.
