Owen, 1 week old
Dear Owen,
I can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday you came speeding into our lives! (Owen's birth story here.) Last night it poured like it did on the night I labored with you. It reminded me so much of your birth. I remember it feeling cool and wet. I remember the sound of the rain being very soothing. I remember how excited I was to hold you! Your birth was exciting and fairly traumatic for us. You were so tiny and beautiful. Now you are so big and beautiful!
You are such a mellow little soul, mild tempered and happy most of the time. Still, you don't put up with anything either. Especially big brother antics! Taking things away from you is so not cool- (big brother)! You love to follow Michael around and do what he does. You play and laugh with Michael and your Papa. I love to hear you fall into a fit of giggles with your brother.
You walk along furniture but so far haven't ventured walking on your own. You've mastered the art of balancing and getting up from a squat holding nothing. You still have those beautiful little chunky legs even with all those squats.
You just started to say "Michael". You say "Midawl". It melts my heart to hear you say it! Michael melts into a sea of hugs and kisses at the sound of it. You're starting to put words together. Like the other day I asked if you wanted to go Bye, Bye with Mommy and you said "bye, bye Mama". You are so smart! And another day as I was getting dressed and ready to leave the house you said "bye, bye", knowing that we were going somewhere even though I hadn't said a word.
You eat just about everything, except for the massive quantities of baby food we still have. You want to eat what we're eating of course. We love how you say "yumm, yumm, yumm", as you busily go about eating.
Owen I am so proud of you and so honored to be your Mama. And I can't beleive that it was one year ago today that you came into our lives. It seems like such a short time ago but it also feels like you've been with us forever!
We love you!
Mommy
